Games We Play

"Red, Black, and White!"

These are words that are frequently yelled out randomly while I'm driving in my car. Not while I'm alone of course. There has to be someone else riding with me to make these words valid and fun. Why would I yell these words out you may ask?

I Spy.

What a fantastic game. Seriously. Have you ever realized how many no parking signs there are on the side of the road? I never did until I Spy came along and showed me. They are just about every 50 feet alongside the road on many routes that I take on a daily basis while driving. I like to play the speed round of I Spy which consists of,

Me: "Red, Black, and WHITE!"
Little Passenger: "No parking signs!"
Me: "Yes! Red, Black, and WHITE!"
Little Passenger: "Um, No Parking signs!"
Me: "Yay! Okay, Red, Black, and WHITE!"
Little Passenger: "NO PARKING SIGNS!"

This will continue to go on for the duration of the drive, or at least until the signs run out. It is rare in our game of I Spy that you will have to guess twice on an I Spy. It's usually an immediate answer. While some people may consider this activity trite or boring, I appreciate the simple things in life, such as being excited at seeing No Parking signs. It usually brings at least a smile, if not full on laughter. It's the simple joys in life that make me happy.
