Goosebumps

There are few things in life that give me goosebumps. I don't mean snow or jumping in a freezing lake. I mean good goosebumps. The kind that let you know that what you are doing or what you are watching or what you are hearing is something inspiring, exciting, intriguing. Things like when a boy stammers around to get the words out that he likes you, winning a race, seeing someone achieve something for the first time. One of the things that are on the top of my goosebump list is Ironman Live Internet Feed. Amazing.

I watched the live feed of the Kona IM world championships yesterday. It was phenomenal. I found myself talking out loud to my computer as I watched. Those people out there are incredible. From the pros who have won 21 IMs before, to the man who has never done an IM before and barely finishes before the cutoff. It is incredible. I'm fascinated by this. It gives me goosebumps. I'm probably very geeky. I realize this. It's okay. There is nothing special about these people. Nothing genetically altered or incredibly different than the person spectating. The only difference is that while the spectator may dream dreams of achieving it, the people actually racing made it a goal and went for it. That's the only difference. Anybody can do it. Some people just don't really want to. The people who try to do anything more than the usual for them, they are the ones that give me goosebumps.
