The meaning of wedding rings:
Egyptions: Love
Romans: Ownership- A ring on the finger meant she was owned. Stupid Romans, I think they rubbed off on some Americans.
Asians/Arabs: Faithfulness- They apparently had what was called "puzzle rings." These were rings that could be put together as a puzzle if you have the right skill to do that. Apparently they were difficult because if it were taken off it collapsed and could only be put back together by the person who had the right skill. In this way, the man could tell if the woman had been unfaithful while he was gone by taking off her ring. I wonder if he realized that a woman can be unfaithful even with a ring on. Hmm....
Americans: Americans did not use rings due to their apparent moral worthlessness. Instead they were given a thimble as a sign of eternal marriage (and eternal hemming clothing I think. Again Stupid men.). The women usually took off the bottom of the "marriage thimble" after they were married to form some sort of ring.
While I'm not too particular when it comes to rings, I did find one tonight that I thought would make for a good wedding band. I think it is an original and good alternative to all of the above options. Believe it or not, this ring actually costs $1,025. It's so beautiful.
Tell me you love me Kfed.
