I'm certified people. Booya.
This is probably the single most greatest educational achievement I have received since I started my college career. Yes, it's pathetic. Yes, it's lame. But despite everything that loud girl tried to do to me, I ended up officially certified as a professional lifeguard.
Any 16-year-old scrawny armed little pansy girl could do it, but here I sit with my certificate of achievement. I might have it framed. I'm not sure yet.
I can't wait until I finish my last three credits to get a real degree to call my greatest achievement, but until then, this is it. In the boxes on questionnaires where it asks you what educational level you are, I will no longer have to put 'some college'. I can put something like, 'college graduate' or 'professionally certified against loud girls wishes lifeguard'. Either way, I feel like I have finished something great. Now I could get a job as a lifeguard. Unfortunately for me, I have no plans of becoming a lifeguard. I simply needed more credits to receive my school grants. Well, at least I have something to show for it right? The only lifeguarding I would probably consider would be for triathlons and that is working in a lake which I am not yet certified for. That and as my teacher suggested, "You should be racing the triathlons, not lifeguarding them." Good point. There are always kids races though, and I don't race in those. Maybe my skills can be put to good use there.
A sad note: WSI was cancelled for next quarter. This means no more exciting lifeguarding stories. I know this will probably cut my readers in at least half, leaving my poor, hopefully supportive fiance' as my one and only reader. Thanks for giving me your time and ear for the last few months. It's been a pleasure.
