BOOM

I have now officially decided that Outdoor Rec majors have got to all be really obnoxious, selfish, ignorant people. I'm pretty sure that I've said something like this before, but today...again...solidified my point.

There seems to be a group of boys that tend to sit near me in my pool management class. I can't get away from them. I sit in the second to back row, they sit in the back row. I sit in the front of the room, they sit one row back from the front of the room. I sit in the middle of the room, they sit one row back from the middle. You get what I'm saying. I swear they are following me, just to emphasize how stupid they are.

Today, it was the middle of the room. It's either them in the back, or loud girl in the front and I don't want to be near either one of them. I choose them today...I guess. Technically I was sitting down first so they chose to sit by me, but on with the story.

The entire 5-10 minutes before class started, these two boys are talking....very loudly...about what they are going to do this weekend. They were doing the usual 21-year-old college boy activities and headed out to the bars. (I can't wait until Monday when they come back with their stories about how they don't remember anything from the weekend. They do that every Monday.) Then FINALLY a new topic pops up when one of them says, "Hey, I think I'm going to get my financial aid. A couple grand." The other guys thinks this is great and asks, "What are you going to do with it?" He answers, "Buy drugs. Drink. If only they knew what I was using the money for." Boy giggles permeated the air after that comment.

Wow, outdoor rec majors. I hope you work at my child's summer camp. Loser. I was so annoyed just with the fact that he had to put his feet up on the chair right next to me and spread his crotch out for the world to see, then he's obviously a complete jerk on the weekends to people as he is always getting into fights, and then he is squandering money that legally he is signing a paper that says it will only be used for school activities. If I knew his name, I would have taken the time to walk down to financial aid and have a little chat with the person in charge of giving this dufus his money. The irony of all of this is that these boys are cocky. That may not seem like irony, but it is. You just can't see them. If you saw them, you would understand that they in fact don't have anything to be cocky about. As I lamented to my fiance on the phone earlier today, "It's not like they are good looking or nice or rich or even decent human beings. They are complete jerks. Nothing to be cocky about."

On a different note: I was evacuated from the swimming pool today for a bomb threat. I had to leave the building wearing only my backpack, swimming suit, and tennis shoes. I opted not to wait around for them to clear the building and instead hiked up across campus in my pink and black checkered towel, holding my swim cap and goggles.

This is probably the third bomb treat we've had on campus in the last two months or so. Apparently the last one came about in the library when some strapping lad went into the bathroom to take a poo and found carved on the wall the words "BOOM" with a date and time. He then told some poor librarian and they had to shut down the library until bomb squad could get there. It's fortunate that "BOOM" in a bathroom stall might be something other than a bomb. Come on people. Think about it. Ha.

I don't know who keeps making these bomb threats, but a good time for them would be closer to finals or even mid-term. . What's with this early in the quarter stuff? And don't make them in the PE department. Make them in a boring department like History or even Business. Those people aren't training for anything. They wouldn't complain if you pulled them out of the pool. Whoever is making the threats must be a dufus. Hmmm...I'll bet it's those two guys in my class. Stupid humans.
