The Thing About Triathlon...

...is that it doesn't FEEL good.

It doesn't feel good to feel like you can't get air in your lungs while waves of water are washing over your head.

It doesn't feel good to have that burning in your quads as you pedal as hard as you can go while still trying to pace yourself.

It doesn't feel good to get off the bike only to realize that your legs don't work like you remembered they did.

I decided all of this yesterday during my first race of the season.

What feels good is about 30 seconds to a minute and a half after you cross the finish line and your heart rate is returning to a normal limit. That's what feels good. Being done with a triathlon feels good. The triathlon itself...not so much.

I'm thinking of taking up a career as a motivational speaker. It might be my calling.

Hahaha... I'd agree, sort of. IM is different. A sprint- definitely agree. Especially when your performance is lack luster and people beat you who have no business doing so! grrr...

does this mean you're not going to do triathalons anymore because you realize it's not worth the 30 min. of gratification? That would make me feel alot better if that was the case; my guilt for not exercising more would ease up a little. You would be a great speaker.
