Today was a saddened day for me as I had to say goodbye to an old friend of mine. Looking back, I suppose it's only been under a year that I received this as a gift. It was one of the first gifts that my now husband bought for me the first time that we met way back in August or September 2007 (the actual month is apparently up in the air for us). Since BPA is apparently a carcinogenic material, we both laid to rest our Nalgene bottles today in the recycling bin. This was in particular hard for me because a Nalgene tells a story. Stickers tend to cover these bottles of places you have been, things you like, pictures of people...yes, sticker pictures. I have some. Unfortunately, this waterbottle was not only pink, but it also sported the pink IRONMAN sticker that my female life partner, trigirl82, had given to me. If I could have scraped if off the bottle and put it on my new one I would have, but to no avail.
It too lays in rest in the recycling bin.
This is my new anti-cancer BPA-free friendly Nalgene bottle purchased today. While I'm excited about the prospects of being cancer-free, I'm also saddened that the only colors they had were blue and green. When I called my brother today I informed him that REI only had blue and green and wondered if it was because they were just making these new BPA-free bottles and he informed me that REI where he is has a variety of colors...including pink...to choose from. Shoot. Oh well, I'm happy with blue and excited to start putting new stickers on it. Time to start a new story I suppose with a new water bottle.
What's on your Nalgene?

Labels: I like Nalgenes. I hear you can run them over with a car and they won't crack.
