So last week I had to go for my parent interview with my daughters school. This was pretty much a formality where I sign over more than all of the money that I own to them, and in return they give me a yellow piece of paper that says, "Welcome to our school."
The lady I've been corresponding to since the spring when we found the school, asked if I would bring pictures from our wedding so she could look at them. Madison was very good throughout our entire time at the school there. She put on her best manners, was polite, happy, helpful, all of the qualities that you want your child to have when trying to impress a school. At the end of the meeting the pictures come out. My daughter decides that she is going to be the one to tell who everyone is in the picture. She goes through each one, "Daddy. Mommy. Uncle so-and-so." etc. We get to a picture of all of the bridesmaids and it goes well, "Natalie, Vanessa, Sarah Bee, and that's mommy's life partner!" She explains very excitedly.
I think I actually turned a shade of red. I didn't see that one coming, although I should have. I quickly followed it up with...."That's my friend Stephanie. *ahem*"
Awkward. Needless to say, that night we had a little talk about funny jokes that should not leave our house. Things like mommy's life partner and how people wouldn't understand what that meant. My daughter quickly says, "I'll explain your life partner to Ms. X and apologize for her not understanding." I simply said, "Let's just not talk about it with Ms. X again."
I guess I should watch what I say. I mean, it's all she's ever known. Just her two mommies together forever. Poor confused child.

Ah, yes... Canada...
I make jokes about life partners and spooning all the time, and no one seems to think I'm funny. Sad. :-(
that is so funny! How embarassing! Yeah, I guess you better watch what you joke about.
I dont judge you or your choice of life partners!:)
