On the Eve of a very important day
I had to step on to say
Some overdue words to a person I know
Who is not even close to a hoe. (I'm good at rhyming right?)
She's focused and tough
Sometimes is rough
She spits and she sweats
She has a few debts
But through it all
We have quite a ball
Without saying a word
She can know like a bird
The thoughts that I think
Without taking a drink
(.....this is going downhill quickly.)
Okay, I'm not that great at poetry. This is a blog dedicated to trigirl82 on the eve of her birthday. (It's on the 14th right?:)
Trigirl82 is someone who I have known for years. We go all the way back to highschool. Good times back then. Yeah like when we..... um....okay, well I didn't actually know that we went to highschool together until about six years after highschool when Stephanie dropped her sister off at my house and said, "Yeah, we went to highschool together." I'm an idiot. I didn't even know. What a snob I was. You totally would have had fun with Natalie and I in highschool. We were fun. Just like we are now, but we just saw each other more often.
So our real relationship developed when I asked Stephanie to take over the cooking for the local "group" that we both regularly attended back then. Sorry about that. Cooking for them is hell. You quickly found that out, but I'm glad you took over for me. :) You're welcome. (I completely apologize now. Ungratefuls.)
We have talk of our future careers together, her going to school to be a dentist and me in school for dental hygiene. Ahh...the memories. We have come so far, both switching our majors and now ending up jobless and hopeless. (Wow, debbie downer. Happy Birthday. wa wa wa) Well, not totally hopeless. I know that trigirl82 can do anything that she wants to do. She just has to find what that is.
Then of course we started Ironman training "together." I put this in quotations because even though we kind of said that we trained together, we probably ran together one or two times (a good eight mile run, remember that? The furthest we had ever run before. What a sense of accomplishment.) and then biked together a bit more than that. A lot of the training was the talking about training which is really the therapy part, so in essence, we trained together and finished two Ironman events "together." It was fun. Waving at Stephanie and telling each other we didn't have diarrhea during the race was pretty much the highlight.
Stephanie has done many things for me and is actually a very generous person (contrary to what she may say). She endangered her life by driving straight down to the lone state (I believe it's actually the lone star state, but the lone state fits it better) with me in our 37 or 8 hour driving marathon. We only got lost a few times and spent a few extra pennies on a toll road that we were only on for a total of about 15 seconds. She's also driven me around to hockey games (good times) invited me to dinner with her and her sisters and brother-in-law when I had no other friends in the whole wide world (poor me I don't like people), and we of course have done many many races together where we get together and smack talk the whole time. The exercise is not always the fun part, usually the before and after parts are what is the most fun.
So to Stephanie, here goes another year. Another year to achieve what you what to achieve. Another year to take on Troika, Ironman, whatever else you set your mind to. You are the most focused and driven person that I know. You are an inspiration to me. Really. Shed a tear friend. You inspire me. I'm looking forward to being your water girl while you run 50 miles in a few weeks. You're a good friend. Texas is definitely too far away. One more year.
Oh, and sorry about Proposition 8. I guess it wasn't really in the cards for us. :( Too bad.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I hope it is one of the best. I wish I could be there.

Awwwww... Thanks! :-) You're such a great life partner... *tear*
I do remember that 8 mile run! Haha.. Didn't you have Ace of Base on your mp3 player? (I've always liked them. haha). :-)
I love smack talking with you. Definitely the best.
Oh, and thanks for not thinking that I'm a hoe. Sorry we can't get married. Wa wa wa... ;-) Ha.
Yeah, you aren't the best poem writer. When I was in 3rd grade, we had to write poem about something we really liked. I wrote:
Why I Like Pigs...
Because they wiggle their tails,
And jiggle their pails.
I truly thought I could have been a writer. I thought it was soo creative! My teacher thought it was stupid, and she told me she didn't like it. I was so dumbfounded. Hummm. Wonder why?
So you are a better poem writer than me, even though it was bad.
