Songs

I've been sitting here staring at the clock on the wall,
And I've been laying here praying she won't call.
It's just another call from home and you'll get it and be gone and I'll be cryin'

I'll be begging you baby, begging you not to leave
And I'll be left here waiting with my heart on my sleeve
For the next time we'll be here seems like a million years and I think I'm dyin'

What do I have to do to make you see?
She can't love you like me?
Why don't you stay?

I'm down on my knees.
I'm so tired of being lonely.
Don't I give you what you need?

Does anyone else ever wonder if the songs that people post on their Myspace profile parallel something in their life? Or is it just because they like the song that they put it on there?

I don't spend that much time wondering about this, except when I hear a song like the one above. Do I comment? Do I not? Should I be a good friend and e-mail to see if I can lend a tender ear? Do I have a tender ear? Do they even need a tender ear? Is their marriage in trouble? Are they okay? Are they angry?

So many unanswered questions.

The questions I would ask to my friends based solely on their MySpace songs: (This is a random sampling of my actual MySpace friends and their current songs)

1. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas- Did you know it's almost February? We took the tree down over a month ago now.

2. Hide and Seek- Do you really not know where we are? (I like this song. It's a cool down on one of my running mixes)

3. Dragostea Din Tei- Do you really want this guy to be your hero? I mean all he did was make a webcam video on YouTube and now he's famous. Weird. Shoot higher. Reach for the stars.

4. Cheapass Love- Do you really? Nice. I have nothing else.

5. Lollipop- Is that really necessary to sing about? We don't want to know those things.

You get my point. What do people really mean by these songs? I once had the song "Stupid Boy" posted on my profile and got a clustering of e-mails worried about my relational status (this was a long time ago by the way and has nothing to do with the current man in my life). All I could say was that I meant every word to the song and that putting that song on my profile was absolutely what I meant it to be.

What if our lives were really based on a song? I wonder what mine would be?

??? Who sings that song? Who's page is it on? Now I'm curious!

I can't believe you dared make fun of my Imogen Heap selection. Sad day. :-(

I don't put songs up that reflect something deeper. As much as I'd love to deep and all, I'm not. Too bad... or something. Just goes with liking the song for whatever reason. Although, I did delete a song that I had posted because I like it purely for the tune that sort of deal. And then I listened to it more and was catching the words and realized that if people such as yourself who question the meaning behind songs- happened to listen to it, it sounded like a cry for help from some crazy drunk party girl. Ha. What a laugh. :-)

I don't have a song on my myspace because I think it's annoying to go to someones page, and have to find the mute button. THere is seldom a time that I'm on the computer in silence, I would rather listen to what's on.
