I type about patient's all day long. I can often times predict exactly what the doctor is going to say to them and what meds they are going to give them. I know the doses for children and adults and how often to take them. Predictability. It's all in general practice.
Take this scenario with Patient A:
Subjective: Patient A comes in with mother who complains of runny nose, cough, and left ear pain for the past three days.
Diagnosis/Plan: Left ear infection and URI. Prescription for Augmentin and OTC decongestants.
Or perhaps this scenario with Patient X:
Subjective: Middle-aged man coming in for complaints of severe anxiety and heart palpitatons. He daily drinks 20-30 cups of coffee (not decaf) because he likes the feel of the cup in this hand.
Diagnosis/Plan: REALLY?? Do you really have to waste your time coming to the doctor to understand why you are having heart palpitations and severe anxiety? I don't have the time for this.
And this is probably why I'm not a doctor. I don't think I'm lacking the drive for medical school or the ability to learn the ins and outs of being an MD. I lack the tact and understanding of people in the public who don't possess the common sense that is apparently not that common.

He like's the feel of the cup in his hand? Haha. Put water in it for goodness sakes!
Wow, I totally agree. That is also why I wouldn't be able to become a personal trainer or a nutritionist. I would be too mean and blunt.
