Quarantine the Stupid Please

Let's see:

1. Just arrived to H-town from Mexico City.
2. Trying to get away from the swine flu.
3. Know I've been exposed.
4. I think I'll go to the mall for the day.

Is this really how some people think? Give me a break. The WHO needs to have quarantine for stupidity and this whole swine flu thing wouldn't be a problem.

Monday morning I'm faithfully making coffee, serving cookies, and stocking cabinets like the faithful volunteer that I am and this lady...we'll just call her Chatty Kathy for short...comes in. She starts talking to me abount random things while she pours herself a cup of coffee and then sits down to watch CNN. What else are they talking about except...the swine flu.

She starts telling me all of the current Monday stats on what is going on and then says, "We're next you know."

"Mmmhmmm..." *still stocking the cabinets*

"The world is going to end soon you know."

"Mmmmhmmmm...."

"This is not good especially since we live IN MEXICO!"

I just about lost it here in laughter because of how many times I have thought basically the same thing. Thankfully no one else was in the lounge because of the couple of months that I have volunteered there, she is only the second person to be in the NICU/PICU who's first language was English. It sometimes feels like we live in Mexico yes. I mean, forgive me for saying so, but when you go to a country whether to visit or to live, you should not expect everyone else to learn your language to communicate. I'm just saying. I'm not going to Mexico or France or any other country and expecting them to speak English am I? But here, it seems to be okay....apparently because it is Mexico.

The thing that is perplexing me is why it's okay that people are flooding H-town to get away from the swine flu. I'd like to extend a pat on the back to border patrol for that one. Oh, I have an idea. Let's let everyone who has been exposed to the swine flu flee the city that it came from and spread their germies all over the world. Good idea. Who comes up with these great plans? Oh and when they come to our city, let's just let them visit our most public places so as to expose the most people as possible to what they have brought to our country....and then die two days later. Nice. I do feel horrible for anyone who has the swine flu or knows someone who has died from it, but please, don't be stupid. Don't expose the rest of us. We were all just minding our own business before you got here anyway.

Oh and when Texas succeeds the nation, I'm pretty sure H-town will officially be pushed below the Mexican border.

You sound bitter. Next time the channel is set to CNN, change it to FOX, see if anyone changes it back.
My MIL was just waying tonight that thousands and thousands of people are infected with your regular-old-everyother-day flu, and people die from complications all the time. Less than 300 cases have been reported of the swine flu, and there have been fewer deaths than can be counted on your hands. I too don't understand why people make such a big deal about something we have been dealing with our whole lives. They give it a name and make a big deal about it.

I know I've already commented.. But while that photo is gross, it's also really cute. Just thought I'd let you know my opinion... again. :-)
