R-U-N

Those three little letters that cause my heart to beat faster, my lungs to burn, my back to sweat. Yep, back sweat people. Yummy.

We went out today, just for an hour, as a family. Not intentionally for a run, just more to get out of the house and jog around between bits of shade we could find under the freeway bridges downtown. Pete does not handle being outside in the 100+ degree weather and humidity very well for his two week old body, so we try to limit our outside time with him for now.

With BoySmile breaking in the new jogging stroller and the kiddo on her scooter and me jogging along between the two, we managed to get a little bit of running around in.

I don't know if it's the fact that I have spent the last nine months growing a person or that I'm packing around a good extra 10 lbs still, but it's hard for me to imagine even running 26.2 right now. Yes, I'm that pathetically out of shape. My mind isn't even in shape anymore.

I definitely need to get out on the trail again and put in some miles. I can't wait to be able to run again when it doesn't hurt my lungs, heart, or calves. Until then, I will just deal with back sweat and humidity...waiting for October to get here when it will cool down again.

Mmm, Back sweat. Nice.

And yeah, I'd say growing human is a great excuse. Haha. Oh, and plus it's ridiculously hot there! Yuck! :-)

Nicely done.

I want to run too, but not bad enough to do it; I just want to be skinny. I am, however considering getting a mountain bike. Adam has a really nice one and has been bugging me to join him, but my bike was given to me when I was 12. A nice racing bike my parents bought from bike racers, back in its prime... not the same bike today. Its amazing what a workout biking is and how much funner it is than running.

I am not a parent and I don't know the rules, but I had a co-worker who had a new baby that said that you can't run with them in a jogging stroller until their head/neck is completely stabilized. I don't know if that's true or not - maybe she was just making an excuse so she didn't feel bad about not running Bloomsday...I don't know. Something to think of just in case though.
