Chafing and Lusting

The thing about chafing is that it's so secretive. Yes, this does sound weird, but I think some of you might know what I mean. You run and run and run and feel great...until you get in the shower and all of the salt washes off your body into these fire-searing pain places on your body, otherwise known as chafing. Ouch.

I used copious amounts of body glide today and yet still...still I chafed my armpits and my right ankle. I knew the ankle was coming though. I had a gut feeling. The armpit though, I was surprised. Does body glide really work?? Hmmm...I'm starting to question.

I got in my first long run of the season in today. I haven't run more than 13 miles since the marathon in October...and those 13 miles were the weekend after the marathon so it's been awhile. I've been fighting some plantar fasciitis and thankfully after 17.34 miles today it didn't act up at all. In fact I got about 1.5 miles from the end of the run and felt like I didn't push hard enough so I started running intervals just to finish it up. It was a good feeling. I like that. It's nice to have some mileage under my belt for the week. I think I should get in 32 miles this week. We'll see if I end up hitting that.

On the same note, I ran out on the ironman course today. Glorious. That's about the only word I could describe it today. The sun was out, the snow is quickly melting, and there were so many people out today. I love that. People make me happy. Within the first 5 miles I was passed by a Cervelo P3, followed by a Felt and Specialized later on. I lust after carbon fiber. It's probably a disorder. I'm not quite ready to take my bike out yet as it's still a bit icy in some places and there is definitely a lot of rocks out, but I'm metaphorically drooling at the mouth waiting for the roads to be clear. Time to get back outside again.

In four months I'll be out there with 2000 of my friends. I can't wait.

What the hell is body glide? Don't tell me the dudes at the running store were holding out on me when I asked if "chaffing" was just something you had to deal with when you run...

I get the distinct feeling that the "noob" was the but of a joke at the running shop.

Hmmm... 26.6 with no body glide. I'm an idiot.
