Ike Taking Its Toll

One down, two left. Ike is already taking it's toll on our household. Just now I realized that freddy was found belly up in the fish tank. Poor freddy. Good thing we still have three of the six goldfish left that we bought a week ago.

Ike is well on it's way and our power is already flickering. I wish I could sound strong and great and say that this doesn't make me nervous, but let's be honest here people. I'm just a soft hearted girl with some really mean things to say sometimes and yes, this whole 'being in the middle of the centuries largest storm' has me a little concerned. Nothing too much to note other than the most exciting thing of the day was when BoySmile popped his head up out of his computer and said, "Anderson Cooper is in town." and I responded a little too excitedly (as in I had to explain to my husband that I didn't ACTUALLY want to sleep with him, I just wanted to go get his number for trigirl82).

I wish my friends were here to enjoy this with me. We are taking consolation in the fact that there are a lot of people around Houston. In fact, a ton since they told us to stay here. So we're all either going to make it out alive together, or we are all going to suffer together. Either way, we're in it together. It's just too bad I don't know any of them. Just across from our balcony there have been a whole bunch of college students drinking all day long on the deck. When I say all day, I got up at 7 a.m. and they were up and drinking already. I'm not sure why we didn't take up that tactic, but we didn't. We're new at this whole hurricane thing. I digress. So on one of my many ventures to the deck today, I was watching the kids playing in the parking lot, and watching the sky and the clouds moving oh so quickly, and just looking around when I glance over at the drinking deck across from us to see two boys making out with each other. Really? Is that necessary. Well I suppose if you are facing a life or death situation the thing you want to do is make out with your significant other. I just wasn't expecting that for some reason. I then felt awkward staring at them and went inside.

Well, I think I'll go make out with my significant other now. Our power keeps flickering and I want to post this before it goes out. I'll be in touch. See ya in the morning.

What? I've never heard a mean word ever come out of your mouth. You're one of the nicest people one could ever hope to meet... besides me of course. ;-)

I'm sorry that you had to explain your excitement on my account. Thanks for looking out for me. :-) But really, Boy Smile has nothing to worry about. I mean, Anderson Cooper is way too old for you!... Oh wait... (?). ;-)

Have you seen that homeless guy lately that we saw "going for a jog" while I was there? I wonder what's happened to him? Hmm.. just some questions to ponder I suppose.

:-)
