Qualified?

The irony of everything that I have be searching for in the past two months...namely a job...was thrown in my face tonight when I expanded my application process to...well, basically ANYTHING. Anything, meaning that it's not some minimum wage paying job because in Texas minimum wage is around $6.55 and heavens knows the last time I've gotten paid $6.55 for a job. Perhaps never actually. Apparently....and I'm not racial profiling here (although some may choose to disagree with this) it's because if we don't want to do the work for that cheap, there are enough illegals here to do it for us so there is no need to increase minimum wage in this state. That thought was not conjured up by me, it was put in my head by none other than BoySmile...the absolute not racist. Although he did tell me the other day he's glad he married a German. Hmm..what does that mean? Moving on.

So by looking for ANYTHING, I mean things that are out of the health and fitness arena. I can't seem to find a job of which I'm 'qualified' for or have enough 'experience' for or that I'm 'certified' for to do. I'm sure there is a gem in this city somewhere waiting for me to find it, but as of yet, I'm unemployed.

So I looked towards NASA. You heard me people. I'm never going to live closer than I am now so why not? I have applied at local health clubs, fitness centers, athletic apparel retail stores, and even...yes even the NFL (not as a football player, or a cheerleader though). Most of these being entry-level jobs for someone like myself, freshly out of a 4-year-college with, what is becoming blindingly apparent to me, virtually no life skills. The good news is this. Although I don't have a degree in computer science which would allow me to work in one of the three offered on-the-ground positions at NASA in my area, I can be an astronaut. I qualify.

Amazing huh? So I'm not sure the hours are going to fit my schedule. I mean I'm available M-F 8 to 4, but if it works out I think I will take the job.

I love the irony of life. It's so depressing sometimes it makes me laugh.

I say apply to be a cheerleader. That could be fun. :-)

And may I reiterate: Being an adult blows.

That is all.

I'm confused, you just have to have a college degree, in anything to be an astronaut? No wonder they don't always make it back. No offense to you of course.

Is the Earth not big enough? They should send prisoners and Immigrants to the moon: Not perfectly educated individuals who are worth a REALLY good paycheck for their brain cells. One big step for man kind...
