Hello Quads

"How was your race?" The girl at the counter of the tri store asked me when I went to pick up my bike. "Um...a year ago? It was good."

I finally got my bike shipped down here to ride. It has been collecting dust up at my parents house up north for the past year. I know, even as I say those words I can't believe it's been a year since I've ridden my bike. The truth of the matter is I don't know where to ride down here that would be safe and not boring. I suppose I could always ride on sidewalks to avoid being hit by a car, but real cyclists don't ride on sidewalks and lets just be honest, how dumb would I look riding down a side walk with my tri bike and race wheels on. Pretty dumb.

I went out for my first ride tonight and it was pretty great. I mean, it was no rolling hills of north Idaho, but I have forgotten how in love with my bicycle I really am. It would sleep in bed with BoySmile and I if he allowed, but until we get a bigger bed, it's just leaning up against the wall where I lovingly tuck it in every night. I digress. Back to the ride. I took it out on the bayou as I figured that would be my best bet to come home still alive and not end up a hood ornament on some 1982 Chevy Cavalier. They have just finished redoing the trail on the bayou once you get out far enough and after bracing myself for five miles, I finally hit the new pavement and it was glorious. The sun was starting to set, there were all kinds of runners out, and the homeless men were just bedding down under the bridges for the night. It was great. About 0.59 miles into the ride I started having a feeling in my quads that I had not felt for quite some time. Apparently they have been slumbering on my legs for the past year. Yes, I do believe I did get a burning sensation within the first 0.59 miles of my ride. Can we say out of shape? I apparently have a ways to go, but I'm ever so happy to have my old faithful Cervelo friend back. Oh how I have missed you.

Yay!! Isn't biking grand? *sigh* I love it. :-) Let's live in the same town so we can ride together, k?! We should probably just get a tandem so we can really ride together... haha. ;-)

Oh, and "the homeless men were just bedding down under the bridges for the night"... haha. Lovely.
