Tap Tap.
The noise interrupted my Britney Spears "3" sing-a-long I had going on my drive home and I turned and looked to see a panhandler tapping on my window soliciting money from me. "Just a quarter??" Ug. Are you kidding me with the tap-tap? I can't stand panhandlers. Get a job like everyone has to. This wasn't just any panhandler though, this one, with his reflective vest and printed up sign, was working for some "foundation" (yeah right) to inform people about HIV. Really? You are raising money to inform people about HIV? Who doesn't know about HIV in this city? We live in one of the largest medical areas in the country. Don't they have clinics for that? Come on now.
I am a skeptic to these groups of people who go out panhandling in their reflective vests. I don't know if it's common all over, but all of the time here we get these groups of people, some of them are ex-drug addicts raising money for a drug addict shelter that they "got clean at" (or so says the little piece of paper that they shove at you through the window), or they are working for some church and need money for clothing, and the list goes on. It just gets me when they are so aggressive and tap-tapping on my car or standing in front of my vehicle when the light turns green so that I'm not able to drive around them. So annoying. I would almost rather be solicited by a homeless person than these groups of people trying to make me think that they are actually going to take the money that I just gave them for HIV awareness and use it for something other than having a giant kegger at their house tonight. Puhlease.
As for the homeless panhandlers, get your act together. Go find a shelter, clean up your act, and get a job. I don't know what annoys me more, the homeless man walking up and down the lines of cars at the stop light, or the people in the BMW giving them money. You know they wouldn't be begging if people didn't support the habit. Shame on the BMW people for giving them money and keeping them on the street. If they didn't get any money, they might actually be more motivated to clean up their act and find a job or at least a shelter that can help them properly and not just throw money at them through their window in hopes that it's not going to support a drug habit. Like I said, I'm a skeptic and I work hard at a dead-end job and I'm not about to throw it out my non-BMW window to support someone's habits. Besides, I have habits of my own to support.
And that's my thoughts on that.
