The cold front that wasn't.

Yesterday was brutal. I went out for my run around 1 p.m. and the sun was beating down, the humidity was so saturating that my lungs screamed for air as they thought they were drowning. When you ran outside of the shade the air was so stagnant that it make your flesh feel like it was melting. It was just that bad. The good news of all of this....a cold front.

The weatherman predicted a "cold front" coming in. Yes, those are his exact words. COLD FRONT. I was excited. Finally some decent weather to run in..or just be able to live in. This heat is exhausting me lately. The cold front was supposed to move in around 3 p.m. and continue through the next five days or so, so I figured I would just do a 6 mile run and then put off doing a longer run for the next day...in the cold.

So 3 p.m. came and went. Then 4 p.m. came and went. Later and later the day wore on and nothing but saturating heat and humidity. By 9 p.m. the temperature was 87 with a heat index of 97. The windows were all fogged up, which in in a normal city would mean jack frost had been visiting and it was crisp and cool outside, but here it's like you are peering out through the condensation from the inside of a cold glass of water to the hot, hot world outside. No cold front. I was disappointed.

Then this morning I woke up to a gloriously not-as-hot day. I would venture to say it is quite a stretch to call it a cold front. The thermometer still said that it was 91 degrees out for my run today, but the humidity was down so I'll take it. Perhaps fall is coming soon. Perhaps its not and this is just life here. I would venture to say that I would rather deal with heat and humidity than to be sitting in ice and snow already (sorry trigirl82, come live with me). There has to be a middle climate that is perfect to live in. I need to find that.

And shame on the weatherman for calling it a cold front. Doesn't he know it's not a cold front unless it gets down to at least the low 70s?

Um... yeah I don't know anywhere where is 60-65, partly cloudy. A place where the leaves are gently turning and the wonderful subtle hints of fall are peeking around from every corner... oh... wait... That would be at 1717 NW Hoyt!

;-) Sorry just had to rub it in.

How is being a new mother again for the second time?

Yeah, its like that in Hawaii. The weather is perfect year 'round. It's always in the 80's but its not a humid 80's. But unfortunately it's a long way away and I never want you to move there because I would really never see you again. But... it's the perfect weather you are looking for right now right here in Michigan... AND our leaves change to beautiful red, orange and yellow!

Wow, who knew Andrew Nelson was such a show-off?.. :-)

Don't move to Michigan, it's too far away from me, and it's way too cold!! Eww! Sorry Natalie. Plus, the leaves change here too.. and if you read Andy's comment they do at 1717 NW Hoyt as well. So yeah, move to Portland. I think that was Andy's way of inviting you to live with him! Boy is he generous?! It's settled!

Sorry it's hot. I'd run with you and Pete if I could! I enjoyed running at Memorial!
