Every day people make stupid decisions that lead to an untimely death. Whether it be a long-term decision such as smoking or uncontrolled diabetes, or short-term decisions such as drinking and driving or base jumping without a parachute. Any of these decisions could end in an untimely death. The thing of it is, is that these are all DECISIONS. Somebody is deciding to DO something or to NOT DO something that leads to their death. I've never really thought about the opposite of this. Not making a decision that leads to death. Let me explain.
Today while riding on the bus home from school, I overheard this conversation and paused my Mp3 player for a further eaves dropping. This is where it started....
"...but have you ever watched someone die of cancer before? My grandpa died of cancer and I would definitely not want to go like that."
"My dad smokes. I wish he wouldn't. I got mad at him once and told him that I don't want to be the girl that has to tell people that her dad died of cancer. I don't want to see that."
(quiet talking that I wasn't able to get close enough to hear)
"....Rachel. That was a freak accident. I mean she just couldn't decide. She was just going into town to get us the tickets and she couldn't decide to go right or left. She just froze. She froze and hit the median straight on. It was a fork in the road.... What a freak accident."
Indecision. Rachel's indecision killed her. Strange. Never thought of it that way before. I've been told before that I'm indecisive. I hope I'm not like Rachel. I want to be the person who makes the decisions about how I'm going to die. Not just be another Rachel who in the heat of the moment just couldn't decide to go left or right. She froze.
Indecisive.

The uncommon killer-Indecision

Labels: doesn't that mean I should be decisive? Just pick left or right. How hard can it be Rachel?, I'm opinionated
